Heirloom Hound

Heirloom Hounds is a deliberate dialogue between photography and painting, designed to elevate the humble dog portrait into something timeless. Each piece begins in a quiet, gentle moment, focusing entirely on capturing the authentic character and soulful essence of the animal. Through digital compositing, these subjects are then placed into dramatic, painterly landscapes reminiscent of traditional eighteenth and nineteenth-century oil portraits. By bridging the gap between raw reality and historical fiction, this body of work invites viewers to look past the novelty of the digital medium and connect deeply with the dignified presence of man’s best friend.
