Love letter to Fujifilm

A Love Letter to Fujifilm

From their retro designs to the hands on shooting experience, cracking lenses, and those legendary film simulations, Fujifilm has well and truly captured my heart. Even before I cared about photography, Fujifilm was part of my life. It was the film my parents chose for our family holidays. Those Fuji Superia colours are burned into my memory, as vivid now as they were back then.

When I first clapped eyes on Fujifilm’s X-series cameras, I didn’t hesitate. Their nod to vintage rangefinders and SLRs hit me right in the nostalgia. It’s not just me either, Fuji’s retro style has charmed photographers everywhere. Their compact, lightweight builds pack a punch, with image quality that leads the way in APS-C cameras. And let’s not kid ourselves, they more than hold their own against full-frame competitors.

Now, let’s talk lenses. They’re an absolute dream. Whether it’s their older character filled glass that’s still going strong after a decade or the newer models offering razor sharp clarity for those pixel peeping types, Fujifilm lenses are in a league of their own. Built like tanks, they’re as solid as they come. And who else but Fujifilm brought back aperture rings, eh? They’ve made us fall in love with proper photography again.

Then there’s the Fujifilm community. Once upon a time (I’ll dive into this more in another post), it felt like a proper family. Free spirited, fun loving, and full of positivity, being part of “Camp Fuji” was something special. With Free Film Recipes and the unique magic of those film simulations, there was a sense of belonging that other brands just couldn’t match.

Behind the scenes, Fujifilm operates differently. You can tell that every screw, every feature, and every decision has been made with care and purpose. Their employees seem to love what they do, and it shows. They listen to customers, push out firmware updates (or “kaizen updates” for the OG fans), and host open showcases like the X-Summits. It’s not just a company; it’s a family that welcomes us all in.

Fujifilm, you’ve been there since before I even picked up a camera. Now, as I build my career, you’re still by my side. Stay true to your roots and keep doing what you do best, you’ll always have my loyalty.
